Delivering an NHS COVID-19 vaccination programme
Local update: primary care aspect of delivery
Thank you to all those involved in pulling together expressions of interest to run local vaccination sites, particularly in such short timescales. Letters are being sent to Primary Care Network leads in the next 24 hours with further information regarding next steps.
We are aware that a number of people have approached practices and the CCGs offering to support the Primary Care Vaccination Programme.
IMPORTANT: Register interest in local COVID-19 Vaccination programme
If you or someone you know would like to register interest in supporting the local COVID-19 vaccination programme, please do so via the Essex Primary Care Careers website.

COVID-19 vaccination programme FAQs updated
There is a dedicated space on the FutureNHS web platform for the national rollout of the vaccination programme. Log in or sign up to find key documents, a discussion forum and upcoming and previous webinars.
Some useful FAQs can be found on the site, with the most up to date answers to common questions around eligible cohorts, appointment bookings, preparation for the vaccinations and more.
Updated DHSC guidance on accessing government-secured flu vaccines
Further to Friday’s Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) announcement about the extension of the flu vaccination programme to 50 to 64 year olds from 1 December, DHSC has issued updated guidance to general practices and community pharmacies on accessing additional centrally supplied vaccines.
While further news is expected re. Covid vaccines, it has been suggested that PCNs test out ‘at-scale’ delivery of flu vaccine to this co-hort.
Ordering non-porcine flu vaccine for children
There is now the option to offer inactivated flu vaccine to healthy children. Ordering is now open for this purpose via IMMFORM. Visit our website for more information.
